Last year, I was pretty much done decorating by mid-November, because ya know… 2020 was our first COVID Christmas. I say “first” because 2021 seems to be 2020’s little sister.
I did wait until after Thanksgiving to drag out the holiday gear. Our house lights were actually put up in early November, but I waited to turn them on.
I forgot to take a picture of our decorations this year, so I’ll use the only one I have:
Kid #1 came home in mid-December. Love to see all the cars here. It means everyone is home!

The boys used to enjoy baking and decorating with me. Not so much anymore. I don’t bake as much as I used to, but this year I did snickerdoodle bread, apple cinnamon bread, brownie bites with white chocolate icing, candy cane pretzel bark, muddy buddies and sugar cookies.
I did convince them to help me decorate the sugar cookies.
We negotiated the number of cookies to six. Each kid had to decorate six cookies. Six. That’s it. 🤣
Mom, Sherry and I texted, called and Zoomed countless times trying to figure out plans for the holiday.
My friend and I watched “It’s a Wonderful Life” at the Orpheum, and Santa was even there!
