The boys went to Emporia to watch the Dynamic Disc Open tournament and met some of the pros.

Zach is working very part time at the local disc golf shop. He does inventory, assists customers and helps at the disc golf league events. He already said it was 100% easier than McAlister’s Deli because he already knows the product and does not have work in a kitchen.
We’ve had several thunderstorms – and as Ali gets older, she gets more anxious. Now, Ali will follow us in the bathroom and try and get behind the toilet, crawl into the end table by the bed, or lay right up by your head in bed. See?

Originally, my friend was driving down for the weekend, and we used points to get a free weekend at the fancy downtown hotel – the Ambassador. Adam was in Tulsa for the weekend, so Friday night Scott stayed with me and Saturday night Zach stayed.
On Friday night, Scott and ate a Vora. The next morning, I walked to Grow (for coffee), and enjoyed the outside area at the Ambassador while Scott slept in. This is a water mural outside the hotel.

We walked over to Homegrown for breakfast. There was a 90 minute wait! It’s great to see people enjoying our local restaurants.
Saturday night, Zach and I ate at Public and then took a little boat ride on the River. We paid $5 per person for a 15 minute boat ride. We got on under the Douglas street bridge, rode to the Maple street bridge, and then by the Keeper of the Plains.

There were about six other people on the boat for a nice quiet ride. I would do it again. Dogs ride for free, so we are debating whether Ali would behave enough to participate.
On the walk back to the hotel, we found one of the Alley Doors, a downtown project that repurposes back-of-building doors into pieces of artwork. We also went by one of the many murals around town.

June 28-July 2
Sherry’s crew came down for a long weekend. Some enjoyed lunch at the Old Mill Tasty Shop, a local diner in downtown, to enjoy the daily special – chicken fried chicken. One night all the boys played disc golf – it was the only time everyone could play together. They didn’t mind that it was 100 degrees.
We also celebrated two birthdays – an 18th birthday and 79th birthday – at Vora.
On the weekend, two boys played in the Cessna Classic tournament, and the other boys watched for a while, then drove go carts and visited the 80s arcade. The rest of the crew enjoyed getting coffee and shopping.
