A nice sunset the day before Valentine’s Day.
We typically talk or text with the boys regularly, but it had been a while since I had heard from Kid 1. Just making sure…
For work, I traveled to Dallas for our first post-merger staff meeting. My association merged with another credit union association and now we serve credit unions throughout a five-state region. Our corporate office is in Dallas, TX, so I will probably be traveling there regularly. Highlight of that trip was being honored with Manager of the Year! π
I headed to Washington D.C., for the Governmental Affairs Conference – a four day event full of nonstop activity, attending breakout sessions and meeting with lawmakers. I’ve been to DC many times, but the sheer size of the government buildings still amaze me.
On the way home, I had a connecting flight in Dallas. That area was getting hit with severe weather and when we landed, my airline app informed me my flight home had been cancelled, and I was on the next available flight, which was two days from now!
There were other credit union folks from Wichita on this flight – so we huddled together to see if everyone was getting the same confirmations. All flights were full for the next two days! We decided to rent a car and drive home. But we had to do it fast because we were in between storms. Everyone else had the same idea and the rental car area was PACKED.
After more than an hour, we snagged a car and started the five-hour drive home. We somehow made it without driving through any thunderstorms… only rain. It was adventure for sure!
