To say the 2024 Election has been tense is an understatement. We’ve grown weary of the rhetoric and the constant barrage of political messages. I am ready to move on.
The first time I tried to vote, I arrived to find at least an hour wait, the line snaking around the building and outside.
A few days later I headed back and was in and out in 30 minutes. I wasn’t sure what to expect – social media has been in an uproar about voter fraud and people acting out at election sites. Overall, Americans seem exasperated and overwhelmed right now. News reports indicate a record turnout this election and Americans have very strong opinions about the candidates.
Everyone was friendly… casually talking about the weather and what’s going on “around town.” At one point, an election worker announced a first time voter and everyone clapped. The atmosphere seemed supportive and celebratory… and not at all judgmental. What a relief – there is hope for humanity! π

It is a nice change from the generic sticker offered in the past, and is a nice tribute to Kansas with the prominent sunflower and our flag. This was the winning contest entry and created by a local 8th grade student. This is a great way to get students involved, event before they are eligible to vote.
