13 days together this summer πŸ’›

With the boys’ intern schedules, we were all together for a total of about 13 days this summer.

Both boys were working summer internships – one in Emporia for a graphic design internship and one is headed south for an electrical engineering internship in Dallas.

May
We spent four days together in May. We played both “golfs” … the disc kind…

And the ball kind…

My time with them was cut a few days short because I had a work conference to attend in Washington, D.C. 😞

In Dallas, Kid 1 is sharing an Airbnb with three other students who were all interns at the same organization.

Kid 2 is spending six weeks in Emporia in the one dorm that is currently open on campus. We looked into an Airbnb, a furnished apartment or an extended stay hotel, but none of those options were available.

June
We traveled 1,560 miles in 4 days to attend our nephew’s wedding. We picked up Kid 2 in Emporia and stopped in St. Louis for the night. The next day, we picked up Kid 1 at the Evansville Regional Airport (he had flown in from Dallas), and drove straight to the wedding.

The next morning we dropped Kid 1 back off at the airport, then Kid 2 back in Emporia, and back home again. It was a long day and the last three hours were rough.

July
After Kid 2’s internship was over, we took a quick trip to Dallas to visit Kid 1.

August
Once Kid 1 was home, we had a few remaining days before both boys headed back to school. Pam, Ted and Petey drove down to stay for a couple of days. We ended up with a full house when some of the boy’s friends car broke down on their way to Colorado, and ended up staying with us for five days.
