Happy Birthday + Retirement πŸŽ‰

We celebrated two major milestones in January.

Turning 50 and retiring.

Sc has finally joined the AARP club (for real this time, not just riding my coat tails). Five days later he retired from his federal law enforcement job after 28 years. Throw in his Air Force Academy time and he clocked 30+ years serving the federal government. Time to move on!

We celebrated early in January to ensure the boys could enjoy the low-key festivities. Pam and Ted drove down and our first stop was dinner at Public.

Then off to the speakeasy for some fun and fancy drinks. As a nod to the 1958 Dockum sit-in (the first in the nation), the Dockum Speakeasy is in the basement of the Ambassador Hotel. We enjoyed our private party in “The Vault” which literally was used as a vault when the building was Union National Bank.

Since there was no blow-out banger of a party, I had bought a few items to decorate the house. I waited until Sc had left and then a mad dash to decorate. It was a test in patience as we worked together to rig up glittery, paper and cellaphane decor you get from Party City.

I also created this infographic with interesting information from 1974. Here’s a little snippet of it.
