May 11-17 (Days 48-54)
Society is really started to get restless about “getting back to normal” whatever that may mean. Protests continue, and the spread of misinformation elevates confusion and uncertainty.
We have plowed through three more Marvel movies this week… Thor Ragnarock, Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp.
My friend Missy came over – she is the first person in our house (other than us) in 10 weeks. She wanted to talk about their house remodel, since we had done that in our house three years ago.
It was a rainy week, but that didn’t stop the boys from playing disc golf. In fact, they all ordered new discs to help their game 🤣. But I heard a couple of the discs landed in the river/lake, so they’ll have to reorder.
On Thursday, the Governor announced we are moving to Phase 1.5… slightly forward, but not the full Phase 2. This means beauty parlors, barber shops, nail salons and tattoo parlors can open, but you must have an appointment. Health centers and gyms can now open, but no group classes and no use of the locker rooms. Bars, bowling alleys, arcade centers and indoor entertainment venues are still closed.
Groups are still limited to 10 people or less.
Our club soccer league confirmed the rest of the season is cancelled. There was discussion of starting it up again in late May/June and extending into July, but with the reopening phase moving slowly, it doesn’t make sense to take a “wait and see” approach.
This was the only picture I took this week. Adam and Ali sitting on the deck…
Sunday we visited Cowley County State Fishing Lake.
On Sunday, May 17, there were 4.64M cases worldwide, 1.5M cases in the U.S, 7,886 cases in Kansas, 512 cases in Sedgwick County.
